Irrespective of how you go about using articles to boost your traffic and profits from your affiliate advertising endeavors, there are a few simple measures that should be followed to guarantee maximum success with your efforts.

  1. Try to limit the number of keywords and keyphrases that your post is targeted towards. With an excessive amount of niche keywords, your articles won’t come across as professional.

If you’re blogging for money then a big portion of you business activity will be to blog several times a week – we’d advocate at least three posts a week.

Remember, to create a prosperous and successful blog you have to be posting regularly. Another point to note is around the excessive use of ‘spammy’ promotional banners and links on blogs. You might have noticed that although Google doesn’t like blogs that have an excessive amount of advertising, it doesn’t have any issue with shops! So keep your affiliate links solely to your product reviews and not on every blog post or website page. So, for example, if your blog or blog posts are all about the love of poems, you might want to promote and link to romantic gifts. Be sure to have a blog post that reviews the relevant product or products, using your affiliate links to push readers to the relevant product on your merchants’ websites. Never add this affiliate links to any other kind of blog post – the search engines will deem it as spammy! Instead, simply add internal links to your product review – they will then convert your traffic using their own embedded affiliate links.

As always, we’d love to get your feedback. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments below and I’ll get right back to you.

  1. Hi Sean, That was great content which am sure will help so many people wishing to learn about blogging. Me included. Thank you. Best wishes Jill

  2. The search engines certainly don’t like too many affiliate links in posts. Personally I don’t incorporate any affiliate links into my posts nowadays rather I centralise them on pages to which I link from reviews plus I tick the pages not to get tracked by SEO.
I find it hard to write too decent blog posts per week, I usually write just the one but they exceed 1,500 words however half my week concentrates on updating posts, sharing links on Social Media and replying to comments on articles I have created.
When the comment section underneath the post expands the word count, do search engines rank those posts higher?
Thanks for all your tips, I’ll have to start writing more frequently,
    Simon.

    1. Hi Simon,
I’d say one post a week is a bare minimum. I’d always suggest at least 2 or 3 a week. However, 1,500 words a post is very good… great work. Good to see that you don’t plaster your posts with affiliate links – that’s never a great idea. Certainly, the more comments you can get on your posts, the better it will be for SEO. It shows Google and other search engines that your content has value, so aside from the additional word count, the benefits of proving that it of use to readers will always help your site rank better.
      Kindest regards,
      Sean
